
1. Brief Introduction
- We impart two kinds of knowledge: declarative (or factual) knowledge and procedural knowledge. Declarative knowledge involves learning about the language such as grammar, the sounds and tones of the language, the meaning of vocabulary items, and cultural knowledge. Procedural knowledge involves performing in the language – that is, practice, using the language through business communication, responding to professional speech, reading and writing.
- We offer the opportunity to practice natural business patterns which are determined by each contextualized dialog as a whole, not merely using individual sentences.
2. Entry Level
- Survival Chinese A: For those businessmen or managers who have no knowledge in Chinese or who know just a few simple Chinese words.
- Survival Chinese B: For those who have completed course A or those international managers who have developed basic oral skills and prerequisites in other courses
3. Learning Objectives
- Survival Chinese A: six hours of phonetic learning to master the basic rules of pinyin pronunciation. Daily conversation around 10 topics, focusing on everyday listening and speaking abilities such as greetings, going shopping, and taking a taxi.
- Survival Chinese B: Immersion Chinese using fairly complex sentences to enable communication with local people, introduction of simple local slang and proverbs, expansion of the Beginner A topic areas focusing on practical language skills in order to facilitate more complex communication such as an auto breakdown or a hotel reservation.
