  • We focus on the learner, as good curriculum is best determined by the real-life needs of the learners. We use a variety of techniques such as conversing about media events, weibo, bbs and blogs, TV shows and films. While effectiveness of the curriculum is monitored by checking student performance on the real-life business tasks laid out in the curriculum, a curriculum and classroom are to be truly learner-centered. The act of reading itself is an activity that learners can do quite effectively on their own and outside of the classroom.
  •  Through performance, learners gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures of the Chinese-speaking world. Learners connect with other disciplines and acquire business information. Learners develop insight into the nature of languages and business cultures. Learners participate in bilingual communities around the world. Learners understand not only what to say, but how to behave in a variety of communicative situations. As performances evolve, both linguistically and in terms of behavior, it’s important for learners to understand that when one business element is changed, it affects the way communication and behavior are learned. It is imperative that learners understand the linguistic nuances demonstrated in video performances. A video dialog performance is not simply a recitation of memorized strings of language. It involves actually pretending that one is participating in the business communicative situation. This involves not just what comes out of your mouth but also your behavior (i.e. how you act, gestures, body language).
